ANNUAL CULTURAL ARTS INITIATIVE-THE CHOCOLATE NUTCRACKER

The Chocolate Nutcracker is a multicultural interpretation of the traditional theatrical dance production of Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker where a young lady, in her dreams, takes a wonderful trip around the world. Her trip starts in Harlem and goes to Brazil, Africa, etc. We anticipate that 2,700 school children (k-12) will see this wonderful program and another 500 will be actual cast members in The Chocolate Nutcracker.

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS HOPE PROGRAM

This program provides Christmas gifts, turkeys, chickens, clothes, toys, and food for approximately 2,500 needy children and their families. The gospel extravaganza provides soul stirring music for the soul.

ANNUAL THANKSGIVING SENIORS' HOPE PROGRAM

The program serves 850 seniors with turkeys, chickens, and food boxes that will serve a family three for a week.

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT AND COMMUNITY REVITALIZATION

This initiative is an arts education, youth development, and community building strategy that will offer children and youth access to serious, progressive instruction in performing arts, dance, and music that will provide an educational and civic experience that will help them develop an appreciation of history, culture, and dance while displaying discipline, confidence, self-esteem, pride, and positive images to their peers.

ANNUAL EASTER HOPE PROGRAM

This program provides food boxes, Easter Baskets, and an Easter egg hunt for 1,000 at risk children and their families.

MAGNOLIA POINT SENIOR CITIZEN COMPLEX

SWUC is a joint venture partner in the beautiful, well-equipped, low-income, Senior Citizen Housing Complex located on Mercy Drive. The complex has 168 I and 2 bedroom apartment homes with a lakefront gazebo, pool, covered picnic area, bridge, exercise room recreation room, Bingo, shuffleboard and lots more.

We have been extremely successful because we have made our efforts a community effort. Our success can be attributed largely to support from local corporations and business people like you. Please note that we receive absolutely no funding from local, state, or federal governmental agencies, and our programs are free to those we serve.
