The Chocolate Nutcracker is a multicultural interpretation of the traditional theatrical dance production of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker. Set in the early 1950’s Harlem with a multicultural cast of 500 or more children and youth from Central Florida. The production also features young Claire and The Chocolate Nutcracker who explore a proud cultural heritage through the use of dance, song, rhythms, narration and drama. The two journey around the world by way of Claire’s enchanting dream. This wonderful holiday legend is filled with dazzling costumes, extrinsic dance movements, rhythms and sounds with music from Duke Ellington’s Nutcracker Suite to ballet, jitterbug, hip-hop, jazz, and gospel.
